HAPPY SINGERS.....
Debby is a superb leader and inspiration for circle singing... she also had some wonderful support in Christian and V who also lead improvisation- al singing. This was a group of people who, otherwise, had never sung together. There were two teenagers in the group who brought their sibling connection and playfulness. I enjoyed having some structure in which to relate to one another through sound and movement. I'm definitely going to do this again! Thank you everyone!

I finally had a chance to join Debby Boland Watt's Soul Circle. When my voice blended or created a moody dissonance there was this very cool feeling of unity with the other singers. When we made rhythms, it was the drum circle and the improvisation I have always wanted to try. When we added spontaneous words to our chanting rhythms - they were playful and poetic. That particular part of the evening offered an intriguing view of vocal and writer "voice" together. I want to explore that more. I left feeling creative, peaceful, and energized. ~ S.S.H. Last evening's Circle could not have been more pleasurable, and i enjoyed and appreciated every human being in attendance. hope to return in a couple of weeks. ~ G. M. Olympia, WA
As a teacher you are very kind, specific, funny, direct, confusing, brave, spontaneous and present. I really liked the 2 circles exercise, and the way you led us from speaking to singing to each other. Having someone look at you while they are singing is so powerful, disarming and real. And then, too respond in kind...! ~ C. S. Seattle, WA
I'll always be grateful that you've decided to show up in this world as the gifted and inspiring spirit you are. Talented artists are rarely also brilliant teachers. I think you're both. ~ S. S. Seattle, WA
Wow, girl - you knock my socks off! I love making music with you and I can't wait to do it again in October. Thanks for being wild and open Debby. You're a rare bird. ~ J. F.
Debby!! What a great night! Thanks so much for making this happen. And especially for your incredible musicality, improv and hosting skills!! ~ S. M.
Circle singing creates a movement of energy unlike anything I have experienced in vocal works. Debby is the regional influence up here in the NW with Circle Singing. She has worked with Bobby McFerrin and teaches at the University of Washington. I am a humble student of overly structured thinking...learning to un-grapple and inspire. ~ L. Z.
